Inez Esther Larson

Inez Esther Larson, 93, of Rothsay, MN, died June 23, 2024, at Lake Region Healthcare in Fergus Falls, MN. 

Inez was born October 16, 1930, to Alfred and Anna (Tangen) Anderson. She graduated from high school in Hitterdal, MN in 1948. After high school she worked for Peterson’s Store in Hawley, MN. In 1949 she met the love of her life, Ernest Larson, and they were married on May 6, 1949, in Hawley. Their lives were kept busy as they bought houses, fixed them up and sold them, moving about 21 times in 20 years. They enjoyed living in Portland, OR, Hawley and Lake Park, MN and finally settled in Rothsay in 2001. They owned Inie’s Upholstery in Hitterdal and Ernie’s Auto and Upholstery in Lake Park, and also farmed together near Lake Park and Hitterdal. 

Inez was very active at Eksjo Lutheran Church, and she especially loved quilting, sewing and baking. She loved entertaining and hosting dinners for her family. From the moment they met, Ernie and Inez enjoyed over 50 years of dancing together. Inez loved shopping and was always very stylish in her appearance. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren all held special places in her heart, along with all her special pets over the years. 

Inez is survived by her daughter, Linda Jones, of Rothsay; her son, Robert (Julie) Larson, of Rothsay; 7 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her son, Michael Larson; her son-in-law, Wayne Jones; her great-grandchild, Payton Larson, and all her siblings: Alfreda Blakeway, Allan Anderson, Arnold Anderson, Melpha Mattson and Marlene Duffney. 

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at 2:00 P.M., with visitation from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M., at Wright Funeral Home, Hawley, MN. Memorials may be directed to Eskjo Lutheran Church or Rothsay Fire and Rescue.
