Irene B. Swenson

Irene Beatrice Setran was born on June 22, 1917, in Badger, MN, to I.B. and Bertina Broten Setran. She grew up in Badger, graduating High School as an honor student. Irene married Justin Swenson on June 15, 1936 in Badger, MN. They lived in various cities in southern Minnesota, before moving to Moorhead, MN, where Justin was the Superintendent of Moorhead School System. Irene worked as a clerk in her father's hardware store in Badger. Later, she worked at the Moorhead Visitor Center. Irene and Justin enjoyed their winters in Pharr, Texas for 18 years. They had a love for traveling; visiting over 50 countries and taking many cruises. Justin died February 3, 1997.During her life, Irene was a dedicated wife and mother. She was actively involved in church and school activities. Irene enjoyed arts and crafts, music, baking, and golf. Her greatest commitment was to her family, all of whom were witness to the dedication and love she shared and taught by example. She will be sadly missed, but lovingly remembered by her family and everyone who knew her. Irene is survived by her four children, Janice Ken Baker, Fargo, ND, Karen Harry Dittler, Coon Rapids, MN, Sheldon Carolyn Swenson, Baudette, MN and Warren Kathy Swenson, Fargo, ND; two sisters, Daphne Roadfeldt, Roseau, MN and Phyllis Odegaard, Roseau, MN; 8 grandchildren, Kevin Cheryl Baker, Celebration, FL, Eric Gina Baker, Fargo, ND, Sean Jennie Baker, Mt. Pleasant, MI, Bairnt Robyn Dittler, St. Paul, MN, Kirenza Greg Swanson, Chaska, MN, Kaleesha Dittler, Rochester, MN, Mya Swenson, Fargo, ND, and Gina Swenson, Fargo, ND; 10 great-grandchildren, Eli, Connor, Justin and Afton Swanson, Ridley Dittler, Aidan and Ava Baker, Eloise and Atticus Baker, and Hayley Baker. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, and sister, Adeline Lindberg.
