Irene Cary

Irene Cary, 86, died on Thursday, May 8, 2014 at Oak Crossing in Detroit Lakes.
Irene Jore was born to Theodore and Alda Kleiv Jore on November 25, 1927 in Hawley, MN. She attended school in Hawley and graduated from the 8th grade. Irene married Leslie Cary in the late 1950’s and they made their home on a farm in rural Ulen, MN. Irene was a homemaker her entire life and she was active in Walworth Baptist Church in rural Ulen. Irene loved all animals, especially dogs, and she had a huge collection of stuffed animals. Irene was a resident at Oak Crossing in Detroit Lakes for over 10 years and she especially cherished the time she spent volunteering there as office help, setting tables and any other general tasks that were needed.
Irene is survived by her sisters Dorothy Robert Larson, of Moorhead, and Marlene Eng, of Grafton, ND; a brother, Richard Jore, of Texas and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her son Robert Lee Cary, brothers Art Jore and Theodore Jore, and sisters Adeline Robison and Vivian Haugen.
Irene’s family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Oak Crossing in Detroit Lakes for the excellent care that they provided to her over the years.
A funeral service will be held on Monday May 12, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, with visitation for one hour before the service. Interment will be at Walworth Baptist Church cemetery in rural Ulen, MN.
