Irene E. Roen

Irene E. Roen, 78, Lake Park, MN, died Sunday, November 15, 2015 at Sanford Medical Center in Fargo.

Irene Elaine Ness Roen, Lake Park, MN, was born to Edwin L. and Hilda A. Ness on April 4, 1937 in Cormorant Township. She attended District 10, grades 1 through 6, and Lake Park High School, grades 7 through 12, graduating in May 1955. Irene attended and graduated from Detroit Lakes Technical College 1988-1989 with a degree in Small Business Management.

Bernard and Irene were united in marriage on May 20, 1959 at the Rollag Parsonage. The first four years they lived at Bud’s parents’ farm west of Lake Park. On April 4, 1963 they purchased a farm home south of Lake Park.

On July 16, 1961 Marci was born in Detroit Lakes. Bruce was born February 12, 1964 at Detroit Lakes. They enjoyed the freedom of living out in the country.

Irene retired from working at Sunnyside Nursing Home in 1991 due to health reasons.

Irene’s interests were reading, sewing, deer hunting, and visiting friends. She has been an active member of Park Lutheran Church most of her life.

Irene is survived by her daughter, Marci Roen, Rochester, MN; her son, Bruce Roen, Lake Park, MN; brothers, Lowell Carol Mae Ness, Lake Park, Arvid Ness, Moorhead, MN, Harold Diane Ness, Moorhead, Harvey Debbie Ness, Lake Park; sister, Paulette Ron Foss, Zeeland, ND, brother-in-law Kenneth Berg, Detroit Lakes, MN; grandchildren, Shana and Brent Ceminski, Rochester, MN, Dan Ceminski,father of Shana and Brent, Wahpeton, ND, and Cindy Ceminski; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin and Hilda Ness, her sister, Gail Berg, and her niece, Angela Joy Berg.
