Irene H. Wouters

Irene Hazel Wouters was born to Oscar and Hazel Ernest on Tuesday, October 25, 1921. She died Friday, December 31, 2021, at 100 years of age.

Irene was a loving daughter, sister, aunt, friend, wife, mother, and grandmother.

She attended Barnesville school and worked in Barnesville until her marriage to Warren Wouters in 1943 when they moved to Hawley.

Irene was a hard worker, excellent mom to her sons, John, and Kenny, and was known for her great sewing, cooking, and baking ability.

Warren passed away in 1983. Irene moved to the Fairmount Assisted Living in 2012 and to Eventide on 8th in 2021.

She is survived by her sons, John (Rose), Moorhead, and Kenny (Sally), Hawley; 9 grandchildren; 1 step-grandchild; many great and great-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and sister, Shirley (Vincent) Haugen, Moorhead.

Irene was preceded in death by her husband, Warren; parents; sisters, Helen Rosenfeldt, Ida Brandt, and Pearl Cook; and brother, Clifford Ernest.

Memorials are preferred to Irene’s favorite radio station, Heaven 88.7.

A funeral will be held on Friday, January 7, 2022, at 11:00 AM with a visitation one hour before the service at Fargo Baptist Church, Fargo, ND.

Burial will be in Hawley Cemetery in the spring.
