Irene Marie Clark

Irene Marie (Bogestad) Clark, 91, of Moorhead, MN, passed away on Saturday, September 8, 2018 in Valley Care and Rehab, Barnesville, MN.

Irene was born on February 6, 1927 to Anton and Anna (Johnson) Bogestad in Leonidas, MN. She grew up in Leonidas, MN and graduated from Eveleth High School in Eveleth, MN. She moved to Chicago, IL after high school where she worked as a secretary for the IRS. She was united in marriage to Robert Clark on June 1, 1946 in Virginia, MN. They moved to Holyoke, MN for two years after their marriage. They lived in St. Paul, MN for one year and moved to Fargo, ND in 1953, and later moved to Moorhead, MN in 1957. Irene worked various part time jobs, such as a fry cook for Warren’s Café in Moorhead and later housekeeping at Concordia College.

Irene was a fine example of motherhood. She would treat all kids like her own and always made sure they were not hungry. She would often say “If you leave the table hungry, it’s your own fault.”

Irene will be greatly missed by her family and friends and remembered for her strength, selflessness, strong faith, and her dedication to family.

Irene is survived by her children, Charles (Theresa) Clark, Stephen Clark, Bobbi Ann (James) Dahl, Jeanine (Brian) Self, Melissa (John) Seitz; 12 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and many other loving relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Anton and Anna; husband, Robert; daughter, Patricia; sisters, Esther Hendrickson, Emma Nelson, and Alyce Anderson; and great-grandchild, Adam Clark.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at 11:00AM at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Moorhead, MN, with a visitation one hour prior. Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery in Moorhead following the service.

The family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff at Valley Care and Rehab for the exceptional care they provided for Irene.
