Irene Ruth Lammers

Irene Ruth Lammers, 82, Eventide Lutheran Home, Moorhead, MN, died on Saturday, July 09, 2011, in the nursing home. Irene Wagner was born on November 19, 1928, in Worthington, MN, to Emil and Kathrina Joens Wagner. She graduated from high school in Barnesville, MN, in 1948. Irene married Lane Lammers on August 29, 1948, in Barnesville and they made their home in Sabin, MN, where they raised five daughters. She was an active community member and mother, involved in P.T.A., serving as a room mother, Campfire leader, 4H leader, teaching Sunday school and belonging to the Sabinettes. Her husband, Lane, died on February 16, 1974. Irene moved to Moorhead, MN, in 1979, and worked at St. Ansgar's Hospital and Dakota Hospital. She was an active member of the Moorhead V.F.W. Auxiliary and the Fargo Eagles Auxiliary. She was an exquisite seamstress and cake decorator. Irene enjoyed her vegetable and flower gardens, playing games and dancing. Family was so important to her and she made every holiday and birthday special. Irene is survived by her daughters, Rennae Herman Weiss, Sabin, MN, Penny Scott Donaldson, Loudon, TN, Nancy Daniel Billing, Enderlin, ND, Gerry Bommersbach, Fargo, ND, and Jenny Ed Strenkowski, Thompson, ND; sister, Mabel Johnson, Moorhead, MN; two sisters-in-law, Myrtle Wagner, Barnesville, MN, and Ardis Wagner, Elk River, MN; ten grandchildren, Herman Nicole Weiss, Kristopher Weiss, Iver Jill Johnson, Alayna Johnson, Jeremy Jacobson, Danielle Jake Migler, Katrina Billing, Jamie Bommersbach, Tim Bommersbach Jr., and Ryan Strenkowski; three great-grandchildren, Drake Jacobson, Lane Weiss, and Lucy Johnson. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Lane, brothers Arnold, Wilbur, Orville, Edmond, Roy, and Leslie Wagner; sisters Lydia Schuur, Esther Swearingen, and Vivian Wasfaret.Irene's family would like to thank the staff of Eventide Lutheran Home and Hospice of the Red River Valley for all of their kindness and support.
