Irene was born October 10, 1923, to Stanley and Inga Pederson Jellum. The third of seven children, she was raised in Hamden Township and attended school in District 34 and Lake Park, MN. She married Wallace Nichols on September 10, 1942. They farmed north of Lake Park until purchasing a farm south of Audubon on Marshall Lake in 1949. Irene enjoyed cooking at Sunnyside Care Center for 15 years.After Wallace died she moved into Lake Park. She wrote a news column for the Lake Park Journal. She made Lake Park her home and really enjoyed visiting all the neighbor ladies and having coffee with them.An avid game player, Irene loved spending time with her family. We all knew there were plenty of games to enjoy with her. She did many puzzles, some of them preserved and framed. She also enjoyed reading. As she loved to dance she never missed listening to Polka Party. Sometimes a little dance was in order.Irene was a life long member of Lake Park Lutheran Church. She was a member of Pricilla Circle and held many jobs for her circle.Irene is survived by three sons, Gary Joan of Minneapolis, MN, Wayne Diane of Moorhead, MN, and Lawrence Wendy of Klamath Falls, OR; two daughters, Shereen Tom Schroeder of Sulpher Springs, TX, and Darla Steven Pesola of Nashwauk, MN; 17 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Marian Oren Erickson of Moorhead, MN, Bernice Norman Amstrup of Fargo, ND, and Doris Dahlberg of Fargo, ND.She was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace; son, Ronald; her parents; brothers, Ernest and Lawrence Jellum; and sister, Gladys Erickson.
