Irving C. Softing

Irving C. Softing, 97, of Hawley, MN passed away on Saturday, October 1st, at the Hawley Manor.
Irving was born on August 30, 1919 in Hawley, MN to Anton and Barbro Huseby Softing. He was baptized and confirmed at Grong Lutheran Church and attended rural School District 11. Irving was united in marriage to Anna Berg on December 31, 1944 in Hawley, MN. They made their home and farmed in Parke Township, MN until moving into Hawley in 1965. Irving was a lifetime member of Grong Lutheran Congregation and served as secretary for 38 years from 1959-1997. He also served on School District 11 and 6 years on the town board of Parke Township. After moving into Hawley, he worked in construction and semi-retired in 1990.
Irving is survived by his Son, Anthony Theresa Softing; Daughter, Connie Lou ‘Buzz’ Marick; Grandchildren, ConiLe Lloyd Teske, Deon Sherri Softing, Dustin AmySofting, Darcy Softing, Dawn Darwin Garman, and Danita Mike Barth Marick; many great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren, and many other loving relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his wife, parents, 13 brothers and sisters and 1 grandson, Darin Marick.
Services will take place on Monday, October 10th, 2016 at Grong Lutheran Church in Rollag, MN at 2:00 P.M. with interment immediately following services at Grong Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation on Sunday, October 9th, at Wright Funeral Home in Hawley, MN from 5-8 P.M. with a family prayer service at 7:00P.M.
