J. Richard ’Dick’ Arnold

J. Richard “Dick” Arnold, 78, Hawley, MN, died on July 16, 2005, in Lake Preston, South Dakota.Dick was born on February 21, 1927, near Hawley, MN, to John and Marie Barta Arnold. He grew up and attended school there, graduating from Hawley High School. After his schooling, he farmed near Hawley until retiring in 1991. Following his retirement, he worked part time at Kirk’s SuperAmerica in Hawley until 2002. Since then he has lived in Fergus Falls, MN, and Lake Preston, SD. Dick was a lifelong member of Hawley United Methodist Church. Dick enjoyed fishing, golfing, gardening and cooking for friends and family. His ever-present smile and quick sense of humor will be greatly missed by those who knew him.Dick is survived by five children, John Michael Arnold, Corralville, IA; Linda Arnold, Fergus Falls, MN; Bruce Arnold, Ontario, CA; Tammy Jim Wilson, Olathe, KS; and Julie Paul Arnold-Johnson, Lake Preston, SD; two sisters, Audrey James McFadyen, Fairfax, VA, and Katherine Arnold, Brooklyn Park, MN; one brother, Robert Diane Arnold, Osage, MN; four grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents and his sister Mary Jean Miller.
