Jack D. Sculthorp

Jack D. Sculthorp, 47, of Moorhead, MN, passed away on Monday, July 22, 2019 due to complications from diabetes.

Scouter Jack was raised in Thief River Falls, MN, by Dick and Sue (Brezney) Sculthorp.  He was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church.  As a child, he was involved in many things, including; tennis, cross country, band and what would end up being his life’s passion, Scouts (Pack and Troop 59).  He also spent his summers as a counselor at Camp Sunshine, a camp for children with disabilities.  Jack graduated from Lincoln High School in 1990 and went on to attend Northland Community and Technical College in Thief River Falls, where he earned his Associates Degree.  He then spent three years at NDSU in Fargo, ND, focusing on Veterinary Medicine but realized he didn’t have the heart to euthanize animals.

Jack made Moorhead, MN, his home.  He chose a career in food service where he earned many commendations for customer service.  Jack was most passionate about Scouting.  He was very active in the community and lead Troop 637, along with many other youth and leaders, through their Scouting adventure over the past 20+ years. This included 50+ Eagle Scouts.  Jack also enjoyed relaxing with his sea horses, saltwater fish and kitty, Tasha.

Jack’s leadership, dedication and values were instilled in his Scouts and nephew, Ethan, and will live on in the Scouting community.

He is survived by his dad, Dick Sculthorp; brother, Tony (Eve) Sculthorp and their children, Jennifer, Ian, John, Mark, Geno, Isabelle and Andrea; sister, Stephanie (Brandon) Sculthorp-Skrei and their son, Ethan as well as aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his mom, Sue (Brezney) Sculthorp; Sculthorp and Brezney grandparents; uncle, Jim and cousin, Jill.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 25, 2019 from 5:00-7:00 PM with a prayer service beginning at 7:00 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Moorhead, MN.

The visitation will continue Friday, July 26, 2019 from 10:00-11:00 AM followed by the funeral service at 11:00 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Moorhead, MN.

Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, Moorhead, MN.
