Jackie A. “Jack” Offerdahl

Jackie A. “Jack” Offerdahl, 68, of Moorhead, MN, passed away on Friday, April 26, 2019, surrounded by family at Sanford Health, Fargo, ND, after a brief battle with cancer.

Jack was born in Northwood, ND, on July 31, 1950, to Chester and Olive (Orvid) Offerdahl.  He grew up in Northwood and graduated from Northwood High School in 1968.  He then attended Lake Region State College and received an Associate Degree in Political Science.

Jack worked in healthcare in high school and in college, which encouraged him to pursue a degree in Respiratory Therapy.  He attended North Hennepin Community College and received his degree in Respiratory Therapy.  He took a position with St. Luke’s Hospital (now Sanford Health) where he remained for 43 years.  He was passionate about his work and loved so much his work family, he continued working part-time until his illness took over.

Jack enjoyed traveling, volunteering with the Big Brother Big Sister program and more than anything spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by his siblings; Larry (Lynn) Offerdahl, Champlin, MN, Don (Pat) Offerdahl, Bismarck, ND, and Julie (Jeremy) Waschek, Buffalo, MN; sister-in-law, Kathy Offerdahl, Moorhead, MN; step-mother, Lou Offerdahl, Buffalo, MN, many nieces and nephews and a multitude of close friends and coworkers.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Danny.

In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Sanford Health Respiratory Therapy Department, Big Brother Big Sister of Fargo, or the cancer organization of your choice.

A visitation will be held Saturday, May 4, 2019 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. with a prayer service beginning at 7:30 at Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN.

The visitation will continue Sunday, May 5, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. followed by the memorial service at 2:00 in Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN.
