James "Jim" A. Haugstad, age 80, of Moorhead, MN, died Tuesday, December 13, 2011, in his home under the care of his family and Hospice of the Red River Valley.James A. Haugstad was born on July 1, 1931 in Trail County, ND to Albert and Mabel Amundson Haugstad. He grew up and attended school in Climax, MN, graduating from high school in 1949. He was a confirmed member of Salem Lutheran Church in Cummings, ND. Jim enlisted in the United States Marines in 1952, serving during the Korean Conflict while stationed in Japan. He was honorably discharged in 1954 in San Francisco, CA. Jim married Audrey Christopherson in the Little Brown Church in the Vale in Nashua, IA on June 8, 1957. Jim worked as an auto parts salesman for 41 years for Berg Fargo Motor, HB Carstenson and then retired from Central Auto Supply in 1996. Jim was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Moorhead where he was an usher, a member of the Helping Hands and was a money counter. He was also a member of the American Legion in Fargo and a volunteer for RSVP of the Red River Valley.He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Audrey Haugstad of Moorhead, MN, two children, Brenda Haugstad of Moorhead, MN and Scott Haugstad and significant other, Diane Schulz, of Elkart Lake, WI; two brothers, Edgar and wife, Lorraine of Moorhead, MN and Vernon and wife, Mavis of Cummings, ND; sister, Lea Dell of Carrington, ND as well as several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Robert.In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Lost and Found Ministry or a charity of the givers choice.
