James Clarence Johnson was born July 24, 1909, in Voltaire, North Dakota to Martin and Hilda Johnson. James was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and attended school there until the completion of the 8th grade. On September 15, 1940, he married Myrtle Buges in Voltaire. The couple resided on a farm and later moved to Moorhead. Over the years, James worked as a Cab Driver for Moorhead City Cab, drove truck for Landsudel Trucking in road construction, and for the city of Moorhead. He also had his own garage/salvage business where he helped many people with mechanical and electrical work. He enjoyed doing this work for others.Preceding him in death was his wife, Myrtle; his parents, Martin and Hilda; two brothers, Gunner and Edwin; and one sister, Minnie Freeman. Hobbies he enjoyed were card playing, dancing, hunting, and fishing. His family includes several nieces from Moorhead including, Pat Dick Hall, Maxine Schreiner, Vivian Wichman, and Irene Floyd Hansen; and nephew, Lonnie Linda Leach from Pelican Rapids.
