James “Jim” Devary

Jim was born on September 24, 1959 in Minneapolis, MN the second of three children to Paul and Joann DeVary. He grew up and attended school in Battle Lake, MN. Following graduation Jim enlisted in the Army and was stationed in Germany. When he returned home he married Melanie Forderer on May 21, 1988 in Lisbon, ND. He was a Staff Sergeant with the Moorhead Army National Guard, unit HHC 2-136, which is currently deployed to Iraq. He was employed at Camp Ripley, MN where he was a full time tank mechanic. Jim was a devoted and loving father to his children. Jim is survived by his wife, Melanie; two sons, Dustin and Alex; one daughter, April; one brother, John Tana DeVary, Jamestown, ND; and numerous relatives and friends.He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Sandra Sandahl.
