James “Jim” E. Krabbenhoft, 86, died Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at the Sanford Hospital, Fargo, ND.
A prayer service will be held at noon on Monday, December 21, 2020 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sabin, MN with Pastor Brett Hartwig officiating. Interment will be in Fargo National Cemetery, Harwood, ND.
Jim was born on July 7, 1934 in Moorhead, MN to Elman and Ethel (Schimmele) Krabbenhoft. He attended elementary school in the country near Sabin, MN and graduated from Moorhead High School in 1952. He worked for Western Electric. He owned and operated KR Kitchen and Bath Center, which manufactured and sold cultured vanity tops in Fargo from 1973-1979. He owned and operated the Funkley Bar from 1980 to 1985. He was a contractor in the Blackduck area in the years after and later owned and operated The Country Sampler in Gemmell, MN. He left Minnesota to live in Texas for a while and ran a vending machine business before returning to Minnesota in his later years.
Jim was always quick with a joke and loved to poke fun at everyone. His hobbies included playing cards, darts, bowling, and dancing. He was a talented builder like his father and passed the talent to others in the family as well.
Jim is survived by his sisters, Donna Grondahl of Dilworth, MN, Joyce Polum of Moorhead, MN, and Peggy (Dave) Rosscup of San Benito, TX; children Kim (Steve) White of Kasson, MN, Kelly (Lary) Klein of Rochester, MN, Kevin (Linda) Eide of Spangdahlem, Germany, Tammy (Mark) Green of Indianapolis, IN, Jim (Liz) Krabbenhoft, Jr. of Blackduck, MN, John (Jenny) Krabbenhoft of North Saint Paul, MN, Jane (Rudy) Patch of Blackduck, MN, Kayla Huewe of Superior, WI, and Krista Overfors of Eveleth, MN; grandchildren Chris, Tym, Hillary, Danyel, Kyle, Sara, Nina, Lucas, Jacob, Kelby, Steven, Nick, Hayley, Logen, Jody, Riese, Carson, Isabella, Serenity, Hailey, Erinn, Mason, and Corynn; several great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents, Elman and Ethel; 1 brother, Wally; 2 spouses, Marcia Eide and Judy Krabbenhoft; a significant other, Rita Huewe; brothers-in-law, Jim Grondahl and Gene Polum and a grandson Aaron Krabbenhoft.
