This world lost an incredibly amazing man. James “Jimmy” O. Norman age 76 of Glyndon, MN passed away on October 26. A loving husband, father and grandfather, who will be missed dearly and lovingly remembered. He was born in Hawley, MN in 1942, and graduated from Hawley High School in 1960. A few short years after high school, he was drafted in to the US Army where he served loyally until he was discharged for medical reasons. Throughout his career, Jim worked at Arctic Cat Snowmobiles, Ulvens Construction, Silverline MFG, Ames, Elliott and Strata Construction. While at Silverline, Jim became an avid snowmobile enthusiast. In January 1968 he won the Snowmobile World Championship in Eagle River, WI.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Karen; son Kyle (Courtney), of Eagan, MN; grandson JJ; granddaughter Dani; sisters, Ethel Cullen of Fargo, ND; Clara Johnson of Ocotillo, CA; and Shirley Norman, of Fargo, ND; sister-in-law, Linda (Orlin) Pankratz of Minot, ND; and brother-in-law Gary (Della) Stensland of Edmore, ND. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Clara; brother, Glen; sisters, Jane, Arlene Larson and Thelma Hanson; and parents-in-law, Oliver and Marie Stensland.
Family, friends and all others who cared about him are invited to a celebration of Jim’s life – Friday, November 2, 2018, at 2pm (visitation beginning at 1pm) at Glyndon Lutheran Church in Glyndon, MN (414 Parke Ave South).
