James "Butch" W. Cresap, 59, Hawley, MN, died on Friday, September 04, 2009, in his home under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.James was born on October 28, 1949, at Mercy Hospital in Valley City, ND, to Wesley and Marion Hoefel Cresap. He grew up and attended school in Hawley, MN, graduating from Hawley High School in 1967. He attended Moorhead State College and graduated with a B.S. in Physical Education in 1971. Jim married Julie Romer on August 14, 1970 in Hawley Lutheran Church, Hawley, MN. They made their home in Fargo, ND, for four and a half years, and he worked in the insurance industry in Fargo-Moorhead. They moved to Hawley in March, 1976 and, he eventually opened State Agency of Hawley and Hawley Realty. Jim was a life-long athlete who enjoyed running, basketball, baseball, softball, football, and golf, as well as served as an athletic official. He was active in the Hawley community, including the Hawley Jaycees, Hawley Golf and Country Club serving as President, city council, church council and the Hawley Lions. He is survived by his wife, Julie Cresap, Hawley, MN; son Jason Cresap Erica Weber, Fargo, ND; daughters Jenny Cresap, Hopkins, MN, Jodi Cresap, St. Paul, MN, and parents Wesley and Marion Cresap, Hawley, MN; brother David Teri Cresap, Perham, MN; sisters, Diana Kragerud, Hawley, MN, Verlyn Mike Aakre, Dilworth, MN, Paula Rod Tweten, Edmond, OK, and Shelda Steve Heidecker, Burnsville, MN.Jim will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
