Jane H. Axtman

Jane H. Axtman, 80 of Moorhead, MN passed away on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, at Bethany on University, Fargo, ND.

Jane was born on December 9, 1942, in Stanley, ND to Julius and Hilda (Serene) Kvamme. She grew up on the family farm near Palermo, ND and graduated from Palermo High School in 1960. She went on to attend University of Mary in Bismarck for a time and worked as a nanny and an associate at Conlin’s Furniture. She then began working at Union State Bank as a teller.

While living in Bismarck, Jane met Ron Axtman and they were married on July 13, 1963, in Palermo. Ron was working in Minot, so she transferred to the Union State Bank branch there. Two years later Ron’s job transferred him to Moorhead, so Jane took a job with Merchant’s Bank (now US Bank) in Fargo. Soon after, they started a family and Jane decided to stay home. When the children were more independent, Jane went to work for Hornbacher’s in Fargo. She worked mainly behind the deli counter but loved giving out samples and talking to people. 

Jane and Ron were long time members of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Moorhead where Jane was a Bell Ringer for over 30 years. She enjoyed playing the piano and reading. Jane had a passion for music and she and Ron traveled the country attending many big name concerts. They also took several trips up to Canada and a few anniversary trips to Hawaii. Jane had always wanted to visit Norway and see where her family had migrated from. In 2005 that dream came true and she and Ron took in many of the beautiful sights.

Jane is survived by her husband, Ron; children, Sheri Hansen and Brian Axtman; grandson, Dustin (Becky Vedder) Hansen; great-grandson, Kevin Hansen; daughter-in-law, Carolyn (Donne) Bakke; sister, Karen Schlosser; brother, Clarence Kvamme; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Julius and Hilda, and brother, Jerry Kvamme.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, November 20, 2023, at 11:00 AM with a visitation one hour before the service at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Moorhead, MN.

Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Moorhead.
