Janice M. ’Jan’ Kittilstved

Janice “Jan” Margaret Kittilstved, 74, of Fargo, ND died September 28, 2012, peacefully in her home, surrounded by family after a short, but courageous battle with brain cancer, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.Janice was born on June 23, 1938, to Edward and Hulda Brandt Fitzgerald. She grew up in Sabin, MN, and graduated from Moorhead High School in 1956. She was united in marriage on December 7, 1956, to the love of her life, Vance Kittilstved. Together they raised three children. Janice was a devoted wife, mother and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the highlight of her life. Janice worked at numerous occupations over the years, but spent the majority of her career behind the wheel driving gravel truck for her brothers, operating her own coffee business and driving school bus for Moorhead School District. She is survived by her husband, Vance of Fargo; sons, Richard Kristi of Westfield, IN, and Bruce Patti of Eagan, MN; daughter, Lori Steve Mitchell of Fargo; grandchildren, Jenny Mike Canavan, Amy and Alyssa Kittilstved, Brett and Erik Kittilstved, Brad girlfriend, Jacque and Jeff Mitchell; two great-grandchildren, Madigan and Emlyn Canavan; siblings, Ronnie Lucy Fitzgerald, Gene Glenda Fitzgerald, Kathryn Fred Kennedy, Janet Doug Marquart, Diane John Rogne, Pat Lloyd Wilke and many nieces and nephews. Janice was preceded in death by her father and mother, Ed and Hulda, in-laws, Irvin and Ruth. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Moorhead or Hospice of the Red River Valley.
