Janice V. Oltman

On October 3, 2023, Janice Violet Oltman passed away due to complications associated with Alzheimer’s Disease.  Janice resided at White Pines Assisted Living in Blaine, Mn.

Janice was born to Agnes and Myron Coalwell in Ulen, MN on December 13, 1939, the 3rd of 12 children.  The family moved to Dilworth, MN when Jan was 12 and she lived there until she married Larry Oltman in 1958.  They raised 4 children together and lived most of their married life on a farm outside Wadena, MN.

Jan was creative and good natured.  She worked hard tending to the farm tasks and mastered the art of growing, canning and preserving foods.  She loved family life and made everyone feel welcome.  When her children were grown, she did much work on family genealogy and also became a professional caregiver to homebound individuals.  Her faith in God was a bright light all of her adult life and she never strayed from it.

Jan is preceded in death by her husband, Larry; her son, Rodney; and her grandson, Jonathan.  She is survived by her son, Leon and wife, Janelle and granddaughters Kaitlin and Julia; her daughter, Sherri (Nase) and husband, Roger and granddaughter Courtney and grandson Cameron and wife, Taylor; her son Glenn and wife, Jane and grandsons Dillon and David and wife, Tanya and great grandchildren Amelia and James; and Rodney’s children, Paul, Allice and Jo-Lynne. Jan is also survived by 9 siblings and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A service will be held at Wright Funeral Home in Hawley, MN on Monday, October 16, 2023, at 2:00 PM, with visitation at 1:00 PM. Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery in Ulen, MN following the service.
