Jeanette C. Kosen Perala

July 2, 1931 — August 10, 2008

Jeanette Caroline Haugtvedt was born July 2, 1931, to Alfred and Mabel Erickson Haugtvedt in Hawley, MN. She graduated from Hawley High School in 1949. On June 29, 1951, she married Norman "Korky" Kosen in Valdasta, GA, where he was stationed in the Air Force. They were also stationed for a short time in Victorville, CA, before moving back to Minnesota. In 1969, they moved to the Glyndon area. Korky died in 1981. Jeanette worked as a bookkeeper for Nelson Optical in Fargo for 30 years. Upon their closing, she worked for Eyecare Associates, also in Fargo, for 9 years. On November 22, 1991, Jeanette married Jess Perala. They made their home in Moorhead, Hawley and Glyndon. They had ten wonderful years together before Jess died in 2001. They enjoyed traveling together, being with friends and family, and were so content together. Jeanette was an avid flower gardener and grew some of the most beautiful geraniums around. She always said a yard wasn't a yard without flowers in it. She also loved mowing on her John Deere tractor. She enjoyed reading, cooking she was famous in our family for saying, "I'll never starve ya.", and taking a chance at the casino in Mahnomen to see if luck was on her side. She will always be remembered for her wonderful cooking, her humor, her sense of fashion, and the care she bestowed upon her children and grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by many family and friends but never far from our minds. Her spot in our hearts is etched forever.Jeanette is survived by her children, Shane Laurie Kosen, Glyndon, MN, Kelli Joe Fuchs, Glyndon, MN; son-in-law, James Stensgard, Glyndon, MN; five grandchildren, Jami Alby, Nicholas Kosen, Austin, Bailey and Alex Fuchs; three great-grandchildren, Chloe, Canaan and Gavin Alby; sister, Agnes Johnson; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Korky Kosen and Jess Perala; daughter, Kimberly Stensgard; parents; brothers, Carl, Ernie and Alfred; and sisters, Verna Larson, Lola Fischer and Eunice Bergseid.
