Jeanette E. Carr Griffin

Jeanette E. Carr Griffin, age 89, of Fargo, ND, passed away on Thursday, February 21, 2019 at her residence.

Jeanette Evelyn Sand was born on July 17, 1929 to Joseph and Ella (Huseby) Sand in Crosby, ND. Jeanette grew up in a large family of 8 children in Crosby and graduated from Oak Grove High School. After graduation, she married Leslie Carr at St. James United Church in Barnesville, MN and together they had four children. Jeanette worked at the Keene Café before owning her own ceramic shop. She married Donald “Donnie” Griffin on February 10, 1982 in Moorhead and grew their family with the addition of Donnie’s three children. She worked at various schools as a cook which she greatly enjoyed. After her retirement in 2004 she continued to lend her exceptional cooking talents to help the local school system. She enjoyed spending time at the lake home her and Donnie owned on Prairie Lake by Pelican Rapids, MN.

Jeanette’s passion was making quilts for her loved ones. She made hundreds of quilts over the years. She also cherished spending time with her grandchildren, supporting them in their activities, and going to the lake together. She also enjoyed baking and was known for her fantastic cakes. Jeanette was a kind and patient woman and she will be greatly missed.

Jeanette is survived by her husband of 37 years, Donnie; one son, Jerry (Rene) Carr; two daughters, Mavis (Roger) Bader and Kim (Doug) Richards; one step-son, Pat (Rosemary) Griffin; one step-daughter, Pam (Bruce) Hoekstra; 16 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Marie Krebs and Adrian Hattel.

Jeanette was preceded in death by her first husband, Leslie Carr; son, Jack Carr; step-son, Lonnie Griffin; four brothers; and one sister.

Jeanette’s family would like to sincerely thank Hospice of the Red River Valley for their thoughtful care. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Hospice of the Red River Valley.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, February 25, 2019 at 11:00 A.M., with a visitation starting at 10:00 A.M., at Olivet Lutheran Church, Fargo.
