Jeanette S. Peterson

July 28, 1914 — December 9, 2006

Jeanette Syler was born on July 28, 1914 in Jamestown, ND, to John Jay and Maude Zinkon Syler. She grew up and attended school in Jamestown, graduating from high school in 1933. On May 1, 1937 she married Roy Peterson in Jamestown. They lived in Fargo from 1938 to 1953. During this time, Jeanette worked for Mienecke-Johnson and also at the North Dakota Agricultural College. After a three year transfer to Dickinson they relocated to Moorhead, MN, in 1956. Jeanette began working for the Northern Pacific Railroad as an operator. Eventually she worked as Administrative Assistant to the Superintendant of the Fargo Division of the NP and later Burlington Northern Railroad. After her retirement in 1977, Jeanette served on the Burlington Northern Federal Credit Union Board of Directors for 18 years. She and Roy traveled to Europe, spent winters in Padre Island, TX and Carlsbad, CA. Jeanette was a member of Eastern Star and PEO. For many years she enjoyed knitting and cooking. She was an avid Suduko and crossword puzzler. She will be missed dearly by family and friends.She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Roy Peter Peterson, of Moorhead; one son, John Shirley McCaslin Peterson, of Fargo; three nieces, Nancy Naylor, Judy Suby and Jane Guiliano; and one nephew, Tom Partridge.She was preceded in death by her mother and father; two sisters, June Syler Partridge and Leona Syler Naylor; and one nephew, Gordon Naylor.
