Jemima H. Osheim Rasmussen was born on December 18, 1905 "on a moonlit night after a beautiful snowfall," according to her mother, Julia Osheim. "Jimmy" died December 14th at the Evergreens of Moorhead at the age of 102. She was preceded in death by her mother, Julia, her father Olaus, her sisters, Gertrude, Helen, Ione and Wilma.She graduated as a registered nurse from Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa. She continued nursing until she was 80 years old. On September 5, 1933, she married the Rev. Henry E. Rasumussen Jr. at Bergan Lutheran Church in Roland, Iowa. They served parishes in Iowa, South Dakota, Minnesota and North Dakota. She directed many choirs and sang many solos. She was an active member of the Trinity Lutheran Choir in Moorhead. She is survived by three children, JoAnn Alger of Fargo, ND, Mary Jackson of Deep Haven, MN and James Rasmussen of Centennial, CO and their spouses James Alger and Stacy Rasmussen; eleven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren, three sisters, Johanna, Lenora and Cora and many nieces and nephews. She dedicated her days with her strong Christian faith to her family, her music, her beautiful handwork and her nursing profession. Her life was filled with goodness, grace and caring for others. The family of Jemima would like to sincerely thank the staff at the Evergreens for their care an support of Jemima.
