Jerome D. ’Jerry’ Lein

Jerome D. "Jerry" LeinJerome D. "Jerry" Lein, 81, Moorhead, MN, died on Friday, December 23, 2011, at his home in Moorhead.Jerry was born on July 1, 1930, in Fargo, ND, to Henry and Ruth Wakefield Lein. He grew up and attended school in Fargo, graduating from Fargo Central High School in 1948. He served in the U.S. Army at Camp Chaffee in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Jerry married Dona Hesjedal on September 27, 1951, in Trinity Lutheran Church, Moorhead. They built a home in Moorhead in 1953. He worked at Central Lumber in Moorhead, eventually retiring from United Building Center 1982. He sung in the Fargo-Moorhead Opera, the Silver Follies and Trinity Lutheran Church Choirs. He took tickets at Moorhead High School athletic events, volunteered at the Hjemkomst and served as an election judge. He was also a member of the Moorhead American Legion Club.His wife, Dona, died on February 20, 2008.Jerry is survived by his children, Jon Sylvia Lein, Moorhead, Jodi EuDale Mathiason, Ellsworth, WI, David Becky Lein, White Bear Lake, MN, Scott Cheryl Lein, Moorhead, and Doug Becca Lein, Fargo; one sister, Karen Larry McMaken, Puyallup, WA; 17 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Kathy Lein, Littleton, CO. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dona, brother Ron, granddaughter Beaner, and his parents.
