Jerome G. Poehls

Jerome G. Poehls, 77, Moorhead, MN, died on Saturday, September 3, 2016 at home with his beloved family present.
Jerome Goodwin Poehls was born on October 26, 1938 to Harold and Irene Krabbenhoft Poehls. He grew up on a farm north of Sabin, MN and attended school at Sabin and the Moorhead Campus School.
On May 12, 1961 Jerome married Orpha Olson. They lived and farmed near Glyndon, MN. Their three children are Julie, Connie and Jeff. He later worked for Benedict Farms for several years. He married Wanda Nelson Evert on January 30 1993 and they lived in Moorhead, MN.
He was better known as “Shorty” to many of his friends. He loved to travel, play pinochle and also to spend time at Lake Melissa with family and friends. He enjoyed attending Bison football games for many years and also the grandchildren’s games and concerts.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda, Moorhead; children Julie Myron Curry, Hawley, MN, Connie Gary Hoffman, Detroit Lakes, MN, Jeff Joanne Poehls, Sabin, MN; step-children Bruce Kathleen Evert, Sabin, MN and Rick Erica Evert, Sabin, MN; grandchildren Ashley Curry, Cody Curry, Jordan Poehls, Ryan Poehls, Blake Poehls, Derek Poehls, Casey Hoffman, Victoria Brady Hopkins, John Angelica Eschenbrenner, Daniel Evert, Kayla Evert, Travis Evert, Colton Evert and Carleigh Evert; great-grandchildren Waylon Andersen, Levi Andersen, Bryan Hinman, Vanessa Sanders, Mathew Eschenbrenner and Hopkins baby girl on the way; brother Harlen Poehls, Moorhead, MN; brother-in-law Dean Phyllis Nelson, Moorhead, MN; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Irene and Harold Poehls.
He will be sadly missed and forever remembered by family, friends and his faithful dog and companion, Buddy. Thank you to Hospice of the Red River Valley staff for their care and support.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, September 7, 2016, from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M., with a prayer service at 6:30 P.M. in Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN.
The funeral will be on Thursday, September 8, 2016, at 10:30 A.M. in Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Moorhead, MN.
Interment will be in Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery, Sabin, MN.
