Mr. Jerome Thompson, 83, was born to Mr. and Mrs. Theodore and Julia Nelson Thompson on November 27, 1933, the second of seven children.
Jerome was raised on a farm south-east of Rollag, MN, and at the age of twelve, his family moved to a farm south of Hawley. He worked on the Kasin farm and Jetvig farm. He also worked at the Moorhead Rest Area, various area truck stops as a mechanic, and at the Recycling Center for the City of Barnesville. Jerome graduated from Crookston College.
He loved country western music, watching westerns, children, sweets of any kind, and dogs.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Thompson; three brothers, Orland, Roger, and Dean Frank baby; two brothers-in-law, Elmo and Jerry; and his beloved dog, Trixie.
He is survived by his brother, Lee Val Thompson, Dilworth, MN; two sisters, Mrs. Bonnie Holm, Detroit Lakes, MN, and Mrs. Jeanie Don Doty, Moorhead, MN; and many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the Garden Square staff at the Fairmount for Jerome’s care for the past two years, and the staff at the VA Hospital, Unit 3A and CLC Unit, for Jerome’s care for the last two weeks. A very special thank you to Dr. Barb Hempel, Dr. McCabe, and Amanda Roglund.
Funeral: Saturday, August 5, 2017, at 11:00 AM in Wright Funeral Home, Hawley, MN.
Interment: Hegland Lutheran Church Cemetery.
