Jerry D. Quittschreiber

Jerry David Quittschreiber, 72, of Dilworth, MN, passed away Monday, February 17, 2014, in his home surrounded by his family. Jerry died after a courageous battle with cancer. He was under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Jerry was born on February 20, 1941, in Perham, MN to Leonard and Ellen Quittschreiber. He grew up in rural Frazee, MN, and attended Frazee High School.

On May 6, 1961, Jerry married Judy Breitenfeldt in Corliss Township, Perham, MN. Together they had two children. Jerry worked road construction. He was a maintenance man at Held Beef in West Fargo, ND, and he worked for 26 years as a boiler operator for Busch Agricultural Resources, retiring in 2005.

Jerry was an avid sportsman and he enjoyed the outdoors. He spent many hours hunting and fishing with his family and friends. He was a talented craftsman, and he was always willing to build or fix anything for anyone.

Jerry battled cancer for 3 ½ years. He never complained about his struggle. He was determined to spend as much time as he could with his family. Even on his most difficult days, his concern was not for himself, but for his loved ones.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Judy; his daughter, Jody Jeff Emmerich; his son, Jonnie Lori Quittschreiber; his six grandchildren, Tyler Regina, Joe Jaymie, Tory, Tony, Jenna and Jake; his two great-grandchildren, Mia and Jack; his brothers, Wayne Gail, Roger DeeAnn; and sister, Mavis Arlen Huwe.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Ellen.

Visitation will be Thursday, February 20, from 5–7 p.m., with the prayer service at 7 p.m., at the Dilworth Lutheran Church, Dilworth, MN.

The funeral will be Friday, February 21, at 11 a.m., at the Dilworth Lutheran Church, Dilworth, MN.

Interment will be at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery, Evergreen, rural Frazee MN.
