Jerry Lee Gilbertson, 74, Audubon, MN, died on Wednesday, May 11, 2016 in his home on Big Cormorant Lake, surrounded by his loving family.
Jerry was born on August 29, 1941 in Detroit Lakes, MN, to Melvin and Adella Jacobson Gilbertson. He grew up and attended school in Moorhead, graduating from Moorhead High School in 1960.
Jerry married Lorraine Schreiner on February 23, 1963 in St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church in Dilworth, MN, and they made their home in Moorhead. He worked with his dad hauling gravel and then became an owner/operator hauling grain. In 1971 he went to work as a truck driver for Red Owl, working there until 1989. He started Northland Towing in 1991 which he operated until retiring in 1997. Upon retirement he followed his dream of moving to a home on Big Cormorant Lake.
Jerry lived life to the fullest always. He loved the lake, fast cars, boats, motorcycles and Corvettes. He was a Nascar fan and enjoyed motorsports. He also loved having his family around him.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Lorraine, Audubon, MN; children Lorie Roger James, Washington state, Tom Julie, Moorhead; Lisa Scott Tipler, Moorhead, Linda Chad Pratschner, Moorhead, LeAnn Gilbertson Dan Skatvold, Moorhead, Troy Nichole, Moorhead, Lindsay Nick Olson, Audubon, MN; ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and son Timmy.
Memorial Service: Tuesday, May 17, 2016, at 2:00 P.M. in Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Moorhead, MN.
