Jewell A. Nelson

Jewell A. Jensen was born on April 27, 1926, in Clearbrook, MN, to Gilbert and Mae Jensen. She graduated from Clearbrook High School in 1944.Jewell began work at the Fairmont Creamery and later worked as a teller at First National Bank in Moorhead.On September 22, 1948, Jewell married Edmond O. Nelson at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Moorhead. They raised three children in Moorhead, calling it home for 61 years. Jewell lived the last four months at Eventide Sheyenne Crossings under the care of Hospice and previously had resided for 30 years at One Riverside, Moorhead.Jewell was very active in Bethesda Lutheran Church. She served on numerous boards and committees for Lutheran Church in America and Lutheran Church Women, including the Red River Valley Synod. Jewell was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary serving as past president and a member of the finance committee. Jewell enjoyed playing bridge and golfing with her family and friends at Moorhead Country Club. She was an avid Minnesota Twins and Vikings fan. Jewell loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.Jewell is survived by her daughters, Kay Jack Peterson, Moorhead, and Mary Randall Borowicz, Jamestown, ND; 8 grandchildren, Kyle Kelly Nelson, Erin Bakos, Amber Propst, Mark Brooke Peterson, Jonathan Peterson, Daniel Peterson, Travis Borowicz and Troy Borowicz; and 4 great-grandchildren, Nicholas Nelson, Jenna Nelson, Morgan Bakos, and Anne Peterson.She was preceded in death by her husband, Edmond; son, Kenneth Nelson; grandson, Bradley Nelson; parents; brother, Robert Jensen; sisters, Iris Borene, Ardythe Jensen, Patricia Martin, and twin sister, Joyce Schowalter.Memorials preferred to Hospice of the Red River Valley.
