Jim was born February 22, 1942 in Tacoma, Washington, to John and Lois Adams Megran. He served two tours in Vietnam from 1959 until 1965 with the United States Navy as a dental technician. Jim married Kathleen Rubow on December 23, 1972 in Wausau, Wisconsin. He attended the University of Colorado in Colorado Springs, Colorado, where he received a Bachelor's degree in Psychology in 1979. They moved to West Fargo, North Dakota in 1980, and in 1981, moved to Hawley, Minnesota where they have since resided. He did his Post Graduate work at Minnesota State University Moorhead, where he was close to receiving a Master's degree. Jim traveled worldwide and had been in many countries during his time with the Navy. He had been in all but two states. He enjoyed attending flea markets as a seller. Jim also enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping as well as lapidary, genealogy, and woodworking. He loved his home state of Washington and had a longing to return with his wife to build a log cabin. Jim was a dedicated father and husband and loved to tell a good story. His sense of humor was appreciated by many. He will be missed dearly by those who knew him.He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Megran of Hawley, MN; six sons, Dominique of Savage, MN, Jason Robin of Grovetown, GA, Jeromy of Oakland, CA, Shawn of Tempe, AZ, Gabriel of Hawley, MN, and Ezra of Rexburg, ID; two daughters, Heidi Spradlin of Puyallup, WA and Sarah Megran of Moorhead, MN; one sister, Karen Megran of Puyallup, WA four grandchildren, Jacob, Jordan, and Jaren Spradlin and Hayzen West; step-mother, Chiyo Megran of Long Beach, CA; half-sisters, Bonnie Cline of Puyallup, WA, Sharlene Brazil of Wichita Falls, TX, Janis Duplesse of Long Beach, CA and Candy Krochmalny of Long Beach, CA.He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son, John Megran, and two granddaughters, Hope and Faith Megran.
