Jim Metcalf

Jim Metcalf, 80, Good Samaritan Nursing Home, Barnesville, MN, formerly Glyndon, MN, died on Friday, October 15, 2010, in the nursing home.James M. Metcalf was born on May 18, 1930, at home in Moland Township near Glyndon, MN, to Banker and Louise Gilbery Metcalf. He grew up and attended school there. Jim served in the U.S. Marines and when he was discharged, returned to Glyndon, MN, where he married Donna Sandland on October 15, 1956. They made their home in Glyndon. He worked as a mechanic for various local truck dealerships before going to work for Oberg Farms. Donna died on September 10, 2002. He is survived by his son, Robert Vonnie Metcalf, Katy, TX; three daughters, Barbara Brian Messerschmidt, Glyndon, MN, Tracy Sunde, Moorhead, MN, and Brenda Metcalf, Moorhead, MN; three brothers, Lewis Barb Metcalf, Idaho, Roger Kathy Metcalf, Glyndon, MN, and Ronald Judy Metcalf, Fargo, ND; one sister, Margaret Metcalf, Lake Park, MN; twelve grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son Kenneth Metcalf in 2008.
