Joan Horn, 82, of Fargo, ND, completed her earthly journey and God called her home on May 5, 2022.
Joan was born to Gaylord and Faith Dabill in Pine River, MN on August 17, 1939. Unable to wait for the midwife, she was delivered by her father, forming a lifetime bond.
After high school, she graduated from Dakota Business College in Fargo and began her career at Metropolitan Savings & Loan Assn.
She married Robert J. Horn on March 26, 1960, a banker until his death in 1994. They raised three sons, Jay, Jon and Michael. When her sons were young, Joan was a homemaker and was active in PTA, Cub Scouts, and Sunday and Bible School at First Lutheran Church where they were lifelong members.
Joan worked at Vogel Law Firm for 23 years, retiring in 1999 as a certified Professional Legal Secretary. Following retirement, she became a Master Gardener and put in many hours caring for flower gardens.
She volunteered in the church office and was involved in many Bible studies, becoming a Bible Study Fellowship leader in 2005. She was a member of The Fine Arts Club, P.E.O., Sanford Volunteer Services and Auxiliary, and Northern Plains Botanic Garden Society, and she volunteered at the VA Hospital.
Her greatest joy was her loving sons and their families: Jay and Diana, Denver, NC, Jon and Denae, Corcoran, MN, and Michael and Carol, Acworth, GA; and her beloved grandchildren, Ashley (Ian), Emily, Alysa (Tyler), Daniel (Sabrina), Alex, Adam and Abigail.
Her family remembers her as a consummately devoted mother and grandmother who never forgot a special occasion, was kind and nurturing, had an unshakable faith in God, and was humble to a fault. Her loss leaves a space that can never be filled, but her legacy of kindness lives on in us all.
She is also survived by 3 brothers and their spouses, Bill (Rae), Phil (Linda), and Mike (Lu); brother and sister-in-laws and their spouses Char, Carol (Carlton), (Shelby), Charlene (Vincent), Pamela, Judy (Abdul), Mary, and James (Roberta); and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sister Helen Larson and brother Bob.
