Joan K. Krause

Joan K. Krause, 58, Moorhead, MN, died on Friday, August 22, 2014, in Sanford Health Palliative Care, Fargo, ND, surrounded by her loving family.
Joan K. Smith was born on May 21, 1956, in Fargo, ND, to Lawrence “Curly” A. and LaVerne R. Braaten Smith. She grew up and attended school in Moorhead, graduating from Moorhead High School in 1974. She attended Moorhead Technical College and then went to work for Kendel’s in the Moorhead Holiday Mall. She also worked at Crescent Jewelers in Fargo and then Luther Selland GMC for 23 years.
Joan married Craig Krause on December 3, 1976 in Moorhead, at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd and they made their home in Moorhead for 37 years. She loved spending summers at Pelican Lake and they were preparing to make it their permanent home.
Joan liked spending time with her niece, nephews and great niece, and enjoyed walking her sister’s dogs. At work and at home, Joan loved people, and people loved her. She was an amazing wife, wonderful sister and a beautiful friend who always had a smile on her face.
Joan is survived by her husband, Craig Krause, Moorhead, MN; sister Vicki Dwight Williams Smith-Williams, Fargo, ND; brothers-in-law Jeff Patti Anderson Krause, Fargo, ND, and Kim LaDuke, Moorhead.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister-in-law Peggy LaDuke; niece Jessica Savageau; father-in-law Ken Krause; and mother-in-law Evelyn Mason.
Memorial Gathering: Monday, August 25, 2014, from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M., in Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN.
Memorial Service: Tuesday, August 26, 2014, at 1:00 P.M., in the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, Moorhead, MN.
Interment: Riverside Cemetery, Moorhead, MN.
