Joan Marilyn Boelter, lovingly known by her nieces as “Auntie Joanie Hollywood”, died Sunday, November 5, 2017, at Eventide in Moorhead, at the age of 84.
Joan was born May 7, 1933, in St. Paul, MN, to Ernest and Anna (Sannes) Boelter. She graduated from MSTC High School in 1951 and went on to attend one year of college at Moorhead State University. After that year, she took a vacation to California and fell in love with the water and the beaches and she made her home there for the next 57 years. She became a property manager of a large apartment complex on Long Beach Harbor in Long Beach, CA. She eventually retired to Seal Beach, CA where she made many friends at Leisure Beach Retirement Community.
Joan was a “social butterfly” and socializing was her favorite pastime. She loved the beach, the water and the sun and any activities that allowed her to enjoy the company of her many friends.
She is survived by her brother, Robert Boelter, Pelican Rapids, MN; nephew, Bruce (Lois) Boelter, Fargo; nieces, Lynn (David) Israelson, Pelican Lake, MN, Mary (Dwight) Iverson, Hitterdal, MN, Teresa Most, Rice Lake, WI and Janet (Brent) McEvers, Hawley, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister-in-law, Claudia Boelter, and her great-niece, Laura Iverson.
A memorial gathering will be held Friday, November 10, 2017, from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M., at Wright Funeral Home in Moorhead.
