Joann Heimsness

Joann Heimsness, 57, died March 21st, 2005 after a long battle with diabetes. Joann was born in Austin, MN on October 15, 1947 to Frances and Doris Larsen Herzog. She attended Queen of Angels School and graduated from Pacelli High School in 1965. She attended Mankato State University, graduating with Biology and teaching degrees. In 1970, she married Jon Heimsness and they divorced in 2004. They lived in Superior, Wisconson before moving to Moorhead in the mid 70's. Joann enjoyed her second home, Village Green Golf Course, especially working with Russ Nelson, golfing with the Ladies League, and managing the Pro Shop. In addition to her summers at the golf course, she taught in the computer lab at St. Joseph's Catholic School in Moorhead. The teachers and students became very dear to her heart and she remained close to them until the time of her death.In 1998, she received a kidney from a fellow teacher and friend which blessed her with 6 more years of health, allowing her to experience God's treasures of family weddings and grandchildren.Joann was a loving mother, good listener and a true friend. She was a good golfer, never cheated on her score card and was known for her head covers.Through the ups and downs of her life, she remained faithful to God and her faith. She was a rock to her children and an inspiration to all who knew her. She was a remarkable lady.Surviving Joann are her three children, David Heimsness Fargo, ND; Michael Beth Herzog, Jordan, MN; and Katie Kirk Olson, Moorhead, MN; three brothers, John Colleen Herzog, Jordan, MN, Charles Aileen Herzog, Minneapolis, MN; and Thomas Sharon Herzog, Plymouth, MN; one sister, Cathy John L'Heureux, Norfolk, Va; three grandchildren, Anna Hedman, and Thomas and Carter Olson.She was welcomed home by one sister, Martha; and her parents.In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be given to St. Joseph School Technology.
