Joanne was born January 21, 1936 to Floyd and Marguerite Strom in Waterville, MN, where she grew up and graduated from Waterville High School in 1954. She then enrolled in St. Lucas Deaconess Hospital's School of Nursing, graduating in 1957 as a Registered Nurse. Joanne married Kendall Dusbabek on September 26, 1958 in Waterville and they made their home in North Mankato, MN, until moving to Moorhead, MN, in 1965 and in 1970 to her most recent home in rural Hawley.Her 50 year nursing career started at Immanuel Hospital in Mankato and went on to include working at St. Luke's Hospital, Fargo, St. Ansgar's Hospital, Moorhead and Detroit Lakes Hospital where she worked primarily in maternity. She also spent many years working with the elderly in nursing homes in Barnesville and Moorhead, working her way to Director of Nursing at both locations. She finished up her career working in Home Health Care, retiring in 2007.Joanne enjoyed living on the farm, gardening with Ken, watching the wildlife viewed through the dining room window and the numerous birds that gathered around the feeders on the deck. As the years went by and the gardens got smaller, she managed to keep active with her new found hobby of playing bingo which she enjoyed up to her final days. Joanne is survived by son, Doug Cyndi of Hawley, MN; daughter, Debra Wade Wiita of Hawley, MN; grandchildren, Brian and Brandon Dusbabek, Samantha, Jacob and Marvin Wiita, Regan Dusbabek; and sister, Jeannine Knish.She was preceded in death by her husband Ken; and son, Bradley.
