John Clayton “Jack” Sodnak

John Clayton “Jack” Sodnak, 70, of Moorhead, MN, passed away on Friday, February 3, 2023, at Essentia Health Hospital, Fargo, ND.

Jack was born on July 9, 1952, to John and Betty (Aamodt) Sodnak in Greenbush, MN. His family moved to Moorhead in 1956 where he grew up, attending and graduating from Moorhead High School. At the age of 12, he began working for Holland’s Landscaping through high school prior to joining the military. He served his country with the United States Air Force. After returning from the military, he attended Moorhead State University. He met Janet Tangen and they were united in marriage on May 6, 1995, in Moorhead, MN. He worked at several jobs, retiring in 2014, after working for Case for 20 years.

Jack enjoyed his time “working” at the lake and spending time hunting near Thief River Falls with his friends and his son, Logan. He loved to share a beer with his friends and making them happy with a story he always had ready to share.

Jack is survived by his wife, Janet; son, Logan Sodnak; grandson, River Sodnak; mother, Betty; aunt, Janice (Myles) Olson; cousin, Sara Olson; long time friend, Dick Steigen; beloved pet and partner in crime, Rascal; and many other loving relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his father, John; brother, William “Bill” Sodnak; cousin, Erick Olson; and brother-in-law, Ron Tangen.

Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M., followed by the memorial service at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, February 8, 2023, at The Lutheran Church of Christ the King, Moorhead, MN. A recoding of the service will be available on his webpage at www.wrightfuneral.com where a guestbook and video tribute may also be found. Final resting place will be at North Buffalo Cemetery at a later date.
