John was born March 26, 1957 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Anthony and Maxine Nelson Passanante. In 1959, he moved with his family to rural Hawley, MN. He graduated from Hawley High School in 1975, and then attended Moorhead Technical College for two years graduating with a degree in Supermarket Management. John married the love of his life, Pamela Branden, on July 8, 1978, at Lake Park Lutheran Church. Following their marriage they lived in Fargo from 1978 until 1981, when they moved to Moorhead. In September of 1984, John joined the U.S. Air Force for nine years, stationed at Ellsworth Air Force Base, South Dakota, where he earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from Black Hills State University. In 1993, they moved to rural Hawley, MN, where they lived for eleven years. He retired from the Fargo Air National Guard in 1999. He was employed as a rural mail carrier from 1996 until 2003. They moved to Detroit Lakes, MN, in 2004, where he continued as a rural mail carrier. John will be remembered as a loving and supportive son, husband, father and grandfather. He loved to spend time with his family, go golfing, play cards and ride his motorcycle. Always willing to lend a helping hand, John will forever be remembered for his unique sense of humor and wonderful personality. He is survived by his wife, Pamela Passanante, Detroit Lakes, MN; his parents, Ernest & Maxine Grani, Lake Park, MN; two daughters, Mandy Travis Tollerud, Pelican Rapids, MN, and Angela Passanante and fianc?, Nicholas Dahlen, Fargo, ND; two brothers, Tony Diane Passanante, Hawley, MN, and Richard Lew Passanante, Keizer, OR; two sisters, Annette Olson, Golden Valley, MN, and Anna Joe Deeny, Bellingham, WA; two grandchildren, Tanner & Madisyn.
