John George Kondos

John George Kondos, 88, of Moorhead, MN, passed away on Sunday, September 20, 2020, in Rosewood on Broadway, Fargo, ND.

John was born on March 1, 1932 to George and Melvina “Susie” (Sigfoose) Kondos in Moorhead, MN. John grew up in Moorhead where he attended Moorhead High School. He was very active in sports such as wrestling and fast pitch softball. After graduation, he continued working for his father as a shoe repairman which became his lifelong career. Along with repairing shoes, he worked as a taxidermist all within his own home. He was united in marriage to the love of his life, Mary Jane Eisenmenger, on September 2, 1995, in Moorhead.

John enjoyed painting, woodworking, gardening, hunting and fishing. He would take hunting and fishing trips every year to Canada for over 30 years. He also loved travelling, especially to Hawaii, Illinois, and San Jose, California. He loved spending time at his lake place at Big Cormorant Lake with his friends and family. John could always be found with a big smile on his face which will be sorely missed along with his many stories.

John is survived by his loving wife, Mary Jane; and many other loving relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, George and Susie; sister, Helen Olson; and brother-in-law, Norman Olson.

A memorial gathering will be held on Wednesday, September 30, 2020, from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. at Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN. The use of masks will be required and social distancing must be observed.
