John P. Tomaszewski

John Peter Tomaszewski, Army veteran, retired educator, husband and father passed away on January 29, 2020 at the age of 74.  Visitation will be held at Wright Funeral Home Moorhead, MN, on Wednesday, February 5, 2020 from 5:00-7:00 pm with a prayer service beginning at 6:30 pm. The visitation will continue at 10:00 am followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, West Fargo, ND on Thursday, February 6. Interment will follow in Fargo National Cemetery, Harwood, ND.

John was born in Buffalo, NY, in 1945 to John and Emily (Bienkowski) Tomaszewski. He resided in the Fargo/Moorhead area since 1980.  He served his country honorably in the Vietnam War. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in education and a Masters in Deaf Education.  He was a teacher in West Fargo and coached track and field in West Fargo, Shanley High School and was an assistant coach at Concordia College.

John had a lifelong passion for learning.  He loved hiking, running, music and photography. He especially loved being in the Teton mountains.

He was the beloved husband of Maureen (Rhodes) Tomaszewski (38 years), loving father of John Albert Tomaszewski and his wife Hillery Hagensen Tomaszewski, cherished grandfather of Soren Tomaszewski.  He was preceded in death by his brother, Thomas Paul Tomaszewski (survived by Tom’s wife Sue Tomaszewski).
