John S. Bailey, age 47, of Moorhead, MN, died Saturday, April 12, 2008, in his home.John Sherwood Bailey was born on September 30, 1960 to Doug and Beatrice Seitz Bailey in Crookston, MN. He grew up and attended school in Marshall, MN until his junior year, when the family moved to Moorhead, MN in 1978. John graduated from Moorhead High School in 1979. He then attended Moorhead State University, receiving a Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts in 1984. In 1988, John began working for Access of Red River Valley in 1988 and continued working there until 2000. While working as a Personal Caretaker at Access, John help those who where mentally challenged become independent and learn to accomplish everyday tasks on their own. He also gave his own time and recourses to help establish an art course at Access. John was a very talented painter who described his style as "narrative impressionism." His studio was located at Dempsey's House in downtown Fargo. You can find some of John's artwork hanging on the walls of Dempsey's. John was also very involved with Narcotics Anonymous NA. For the past 27 years, John designed and painted the banners for the local NA gatherings. He also was a sponsor for fellow NA members and had gained the designation of being a Trustee to the program. John was diagnosed with terminal cancer which had spread throughout his body on April 1, 2008. He will be missed dearly by his family and numerous friends.He is survived by his parents, Doug and Beatrice Bailey of Moorhead, MN, two brothers, Thomas Jennifer Bailey of Royalton, MN and Phillip Marion Bailey of Conway, AK; one sister, Meggan Bailey of St. Cloud, MN and six nieces and nephews, Logan, Ryan, Peighton, Emily, Anna and Matthew.
