Joni Marie Polchow

Joni Marie Polchow was born May 17, 1966, at St. Ansgar’s Hospital in Moorhead, MN, to Marvin and Janet (Miller) Polchow.  Joni graduated from Moorhead High School in 1984.  She married David Schick and together they had a daughter, Jennifer.  Joni worked several years at the Fargo Post Office. In 2014 she was blessed with one of the greatest joys in her life, her grandson Josh.  The love she had for her “peanut” was obvious to anyone who knew her. Joni was looking forward to meeting her granddaughter baby G. due in December.

Joni was diagnosed with breast cancer in September 2018 and after a courageous fight for over a year, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on November 11, 2019.

She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer (Nick) Gjestvang, grandson Josh, Davenport, ND; dad, Marvin Polchow, Moorhead; sisters, Lori (Ty) Ellefson (their children, Arron, Andrew, and Claire) Detroit Lakes, MN and Vicki (Willie Battle) Polchow (her children, Brandon and Hannah), Fargo, ND; and several aunts and uncles, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother Jan, grandparents, three maternal uncles, and special aunts, Verna and Ruth.

The family extends their gratitude to Hospice of the Red River Valley and the 3^rd floor nursing staff at Eventide in Moorhead for their wonderful, loving care of Joni.

A Celebration of Joni’s Life will be held Monday, November 18, 2019, at 2:00 P.M., at Wright Funeral Home in Moorhead. Friends and family may gather from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M.
