Joyce A. Ankeney

Joyce A. Ankeney, 79, of Moorhead, MN, passed away on Wednesday, October 16, 2013 at Eventide Senior Living. Joyce was born in Norman County, MN on April 23, 1934, to Ole and Mabel Nelson Bjerk. She grew up and attended school in Mahnomen, graduating in 1953. On October 17, 1953, she married Wayne Ankeney. Together they made their home in Mahnomen and had two children. For many years Joyce worked at the Red Apple Café. The family enjoyed spending time outdoors camping, fishing and snowmobiling. In 1979, Wayne and Joyce moved to Moorhead. Joyce was a wonderful cook, talented baker and rolled lefse paper thin. Her pies and baked goods were enjoyed by many.

Joyce will be dearly missed by her daughter, Debbie Ankeney of Fargo; son, Russ Margarita Ankeney of Randleman, NC; grandchildren, Andrea Dan Evert of Fargo, Casey Munos of Denver, CO, John Stephanie Heier of Fargo, Jessica Jason Coltrane of Randleman, NC; great-grandchildren, Asher Munos, Rayne Munos, Rowan Evert, Skyler Heier and Addyson Coltrane. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and six brothers and sisters.

The family encourages all to wear bright colors to the services in celebration of Joyce’s life.
