Joyce Eileen Britten, 79 of West Fargo, ND passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by family and under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley on Wednesday, May 1, 2024.
Joyce was born in Bagley, MN on August 23, 1944, to Charles and Alma (Haag) Hangaard. She grew up in Moorhead, MN and graduated from Moorhead High School in 1962.
Joyce met the love of her life, Donald Britten, in 1961 and on June 12, 1964, they were married. She then worked for various accounting firms in Moorhead before taking an office manager position with D-S Beverages in 1978 where she remained until retiring in 2015.
Joyce was very active in her earlier years and was an avid bowler. She bowled in couple’s league with Donald as well as women’s league with friends. They were also long-time members of the Eagle’s Club of Fargo. Joyce and Donald loved Minnesota sports and took several trips to the cities for Vikings and Twins games. Later years were spent taking many of the grandchildren to the games as well. Joyce loved playing Bingo and taking trips to the casino with Donald. She also enjoyed pull-tabs…and so did the people who were in on the jar with her as she always seem to pull a winner. Most of all she loved spending time with family and cared deeply about her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
