Joyce D. Thompson

Joyce DonnaLee Thompson, 79 of Hawley, MN, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on Friday, July 5, 2019.

Joyce was born August 9, 1939 to Selma (Olson) Lund and Melvin Olson of Cando, ND.  She attended school in Cando, ND.

Joyce worked at the café in Cando where she met Gerald and they were married on March 28, 1959.  They moved to Hawley, MN, and bought a farm where they raised their family.

Joyce’s hobbies included; horses, flowers, golf, cross country skiing and drill team just to name a few.

Joyce is survived by her three children, Donna (Thompson) Eide, West Fargo, ND, Kim Thompson, Fergus Falls, MN, and Jarett (April) Thompson, Baxter, MN; brother, Selmer (Darlene) Olson; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald; parents, Selma and Melvin and siblings, Sylvia Harland, Norma Halverson, Elmer Olson, Donna Olson, Janice Olson, Melvin Olson Jr. and Linda Peterson.

The family would like to thank Hospice of the Red River Valley for their wonderful care.

A visitation will be held Wednesday, July 10, 2019 from 5:00-7:00 PM with a prayer service beginning at 7:00 at Hawley Lutheran Church, Hawley, MN.

The funeral service will be held Thursday, July 11, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Hawley Lutheran Church.

Burial will be at Hawley Cemetery.
