Joyce E. Arntson

Joyce E. Arntson, 70, of Hitterdal, MN, died Tuesday, August 19, 2014, in Sanford Health, Fargo, ND.

Joyce Andersen was born on May 28, 1944, in Chaseley, ND, to George and Dora Walks Andersen. She grew up in Chaseley until the family moved to Fargo when she was around 13 years old. In Fargo, Joyce met N. Gordan Arntson. They married on November 4, 1961 in Fargo. They made their home in the Fargo Moorhead area. Joyce stayed home to raise their four children. Once the youngest started school, Joyce worked various jobs, including Fargo Rubber Stamp and Sweeney Cleaners. She enjoyed her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren so much that she and Gordan were foster parents to many children. Joyce loved to crochet and make ceramics. She also enjoyed traveling and camping with her family. Joyce will be missed by all, but remembered with a smile for all the laughter she brought to everyone.

Joyce is survived by her husband of 52 years, N. Gordan, Hitterdal, MN; daughter, Connie Ed Cusey, Wendell, MN; three sons, Gordon Lisa Arntson, Hitterdal, MN, Terry Arntson, Moorhead, MN and Scott Amy Arntson, Duluth, MN; brother, Gene Beatrice Andersen, Jamestown, ND; four sisters, Eunice Duane Johnson, Dorothy Nordick, Dian Nicklay and Sharon Tommy Navarro, all of Fargo, ND; brother-in-law, Fred Christensen, Choteau, MT; nine grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and two great-grandchildren.

Memorial Gathering: Friday, August 22, 2014, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. in Wright Funeral Home, Hawley, MN.

Memorial Service: Saturday, August 23, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. in Salem Lutheran Church, Hitterdal, MN.

Interment: Gran Lutheran Church, Hawley, MN.
