Judith K. ’Judy’ Vigen

Judith "Judy" K. Vigen, age 68, of Moorhead, MN, died Tuesday, January 31, 2012, in Golden Living Center, Moorhead, MN, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.Judith Kay Belshan was born on September 15, 1943, in Mahnomen, MN, to Howard and Josephine Pergl Belshan and was the niece of Joe Belshan who lived with the family. She lived on the family farm and rode the school bus to Mahnomen, MN. In 1958, Judy was diagnosed as having a brain tumor. Following surgery and treatment at Mayo Clinic, she also had therapy at the Mahnomen Hospital. Judy graduated from Mahnomen High School in 1961. Judy married Truman Vigen in 1970 in Mahnomen. They made their home in Moorhead and later Sabin, MN. They were later divorced. In January 1994, Judy became a resident of the Moorhead Manor Assisted Living. In 1996, she moved to the Golden Living Center in Moorhead, where she resided since her death.Judy enjoyed her cats. She also enjoyed spending time with her granddaughter, Sydnie. In her later years, she most enjoyed visiting with her family. Judy has been a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church since 1993 and always appreciated visits from Sr. Doreen and Msgr. Mike. She also had a be-friender, Elaine Nordick, from St. Joseph's Catholic Church who visited and spent time with her every week for the past 15 years.She is survived by two sons and their children, Anthony Jeannine Vigen of Stacy, MN and his daughter, Alexandra and Russell Richelle Vigen of Moorhead, MN and their daughters, Sydnie and Alisha; two sisters, Karen Kramer, Altadena, CA and Joanne Len Andring of Moorhead, MN as well as eight nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents and uncle, Joe.
