Judith L. Mortenson

Judy L. Mortenson, 70, Dilworth, MN, passed away on Wednesday, March 28, 2018, after a courageous battle with cancer, at Sanford Health, Fargo, ND.

Judith Lynn Bensen was born in Horace, ND, on September 29, 1947 to Clarence and Adell (Grandbois) Bensen.  She grew up in Horace and attended school there and later in Glyndon, MN.

Judy married Clifford “Chip” Mortenson on September 26, 1964 and they were married for 34 years.  Together, they raised three children.  Judy was a people person and throughout her life worked at Silverline Boats, Touchmark at Harwood Groves and had several other service-related occupations.  She worked as a server at the Highway Host in Glyndon for several years where she met her long-time companion and best friend, Truman Nelson, who was with her until the end.

Growing up, Judy enjoyed spending time at the lake and fishing.  Later in life she enjoyed gardening, canning, planting flowers and was a wonderful cook.  Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Judy is survived by her sons, Jeff (Connie) Mortenson, Hawley, MN, David Mortenson, Moorhead, MN; daughter, Julie Mortenson, Detroit Lakes, MN; sisters, Joan (Jerry) Brager, Janet Bensen; best friend, Truman Nelson; sister-in-law, Pat Bensen; grandchildren, Brandon, Jordan, Kayla, Karianna, Kane, Kaija and great-grandchildren, Owen and Carson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, David and Calvin Bensen; and “Chip” Mortenson.

Visitation: Tuesday, April 3, 2018 from 5-7 PM with a prayer service beginning at 7:00 in Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN.

Mass of Christian Burial: Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, West Fargo, ND.

Interment: Riverside Cemetery, Glyndon, MN.
